An alert at a checkpoint at Stewart Airport in Newburgh led to terminal being locked down as State Police investigated.  Stewart Airport officials say the incident happened at 10:13 am this morning and the terminal was expected to reopen at about 12:10pm.  State Police say an "inert souvenir grenade" was discovered in the luggage of a passenger at Stewart Airport.  As a precaution the New York State Police Bomb Disposal Unit removed the device from the airport. State Police say their investigation found that there was no "malicious intent and no criminal charges will be filed."
Stewart authorties say the airport operations continued during the incident and that the lockdown was focused on the passenger terminal.
