Police release name of man Putnam deputy fatally shot

According to Mid-Hudson News, CARMEL – State Police Thursday identified the man that a Putnam County deputy sheriff shot and killed as 34-year-old Christopher Torres of Carmel.

He was shot on Tuesday, January 10 when police responded to a domestic violence incident that began on Amawalk Road in the Town of Kent.

Deputies and Kent Police located Torres and a woman he had stabbed several times on Fields Corners Road near Pugsley Road in the Town of Southeast.

He was armed with a knife when a deputy shot him to death.

The female victim was being treated at Westchester Medical Center and was reported on Tuesday as being in critical condition.

State Police are investigating the incident along with the State Attorney General’s Office.
