Catskill SprayGround Splash Pad Grand Opening!
Saturday, July 27 at 10AM | Elliot Park in Catskill, NY (adjacent to existing playground)
This is the first splash pad in Greene County!
The creation of this community splash pad is a collaboration between Cultivate Catskill with members from the Fortnightly Club of Catskill. In August 2022 a donation was left to Cultivate Catskill from longstanding community member, Randy Fried. Cultivate Catskill came up with the idea of creating a splash pad to be enjoyed in the summer months by all within our community. Committee members Michele Pulver and Robin Smith (Cultivate Catskill) were joined by Teri Weiss, Brenda Vandermark and Lisa Leone-Beers from Fortnightly, and the team got to work. Two years later, the Catskill Sprayground splash pad has become reality. This dream could not have come to fruition without the financial help and support of our many generous businesses, community members and our Village and Town Public Works Departments.
The pad itself will be controlled by those on it. A button is pushed to start the sprays, and it automatically turns on for a set period of time. This feature helps conserve water as well as energy. The Village of Catskill will set the operational times. The pad is a much needed addition to Greene County for both families and visitors and is wheelchair accessible. It will also serve the dual purpose of a cooling station during high temperatures.
The SprayGround is open to all visitors to Elliot Park, so come and enjoy the fun!
