Brad Paisley Taps Into Traditional Country For New Song "Bucked Off"

It's a busy week for Brad Paisley. Not only is he the co-host of the 2018 CMA Awards — alongside Carrie Underwood — and also performing during the show, but the country star also shared a brand new single called "Bucked Off."

"Bucked Off" was written by Paisley, Kelley Lovelace and Chris DuBois, and produced by Dan Huff, and follows his last album, released just last year, Love and War. Paisley's new single is the first taste of what's to come from him, and takes fans back to the country music of the late 80s and early 90s.

Brad explains to iHeartRadio of his new song, "This is a song that is a rodeo metaphor for getting broken up with. And it's basically a throwback to those days, that golden age of country music, sometime in the late 80s, early 90s, and that style of music, that's always what I wanted to do. It's fun to go back in time and sort of mesh what music sounds like now with some of that old George Strait sounding, Garth country stuff."

He adds, "This song, to me, was the one that I wanted to put out first, because it feels like something I want to hear on the radio right now. It's not the heaviest of subjects. It's actually just a fun look at a break up, and almost even the bright side of a break up, where it's sort of get back on once you get thrown to the dirt. And I felt like in these times, it's something that felt like needed to be out there."

There is certainly more on the way from Brad Paisley, and fans who are loving "Bucked Off" can expect a lot more where the song came from. The country star explains:

"I think one thing you're gonna find with the new music that I'm recording similar to the 'Bucked Off' first single and some of the other songs, is that there's a real soul and edge to it that comes from a new producer and Dan Huff, and the way that I'm writing right now. And there's a real, sort of, foot in the past and the traditional country that I always loved, as well as a mindful way of looking at the new way to record these songs and make them sound the best they can."
