We all count on first responders. These brave men and women who rush in when everyone else is running the other way, but what happens when they need help? Who is rushing in to be there for them, to work side by side with them as they rebuild? You and I, that's who.
A little after 10 pm last Friday, a serious fire broke out at the Tivoli Firehouse. While the men and women of that company were on scene in minutes and did everything they could to save the building as well as equipment, the building suffered extensive damage and they lost two fire engines and an ambulance. Thankfully no one was hurt.
According to the Mayor, Joel Griffith, the town has received immediate aid from numerous adjacent fire departments and many other agencies. Offers of support from around the state are pouring in and emergency services are in place to handle any issue the community may face.
While the building and equipment were insured, it may not cover all of it. That's where you and I come in. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. A GoFundMe page has been set up, but you can also help by mailing support to Tivoli Fire Department, PO Box 486, Tivoli, NY 12538.
