Dutchess County Business Updates For March 30, 2020

·The U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship has released a guide on the federally passed CARES Act. It can be found HERE.

·Governor Cuomo has reopened the NY State of Health enrollment period for those effected by COVID-19. The special enrollment period for those without coverage right now is only open until April 15, and those who lose their employer coverage have 60 days to apply for new coverage. ·The State has released a new flier that will help determine who does or does not qualify for the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance. It can be found HERE. There is also a flowchart that can be foundHERE.

·Individuals who are experiencing financial hardship from COVID-19 may defer payments on their life insurance policies for 90 days according to Governor Cuomo'sWEBSITE.

·On that same page, Governor Cuomo said that consumers and small businesses may defer paying premiums for property and casualty insurance for 60 days.

·The State has created a new job portal under the Department of Labor. It can be foundHERE.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has created a guide for small businesses looking to take advantage of Paycheck Protection Program. This is the program that allows businesses to take out a loan to cover their payrolls, and the loan is forgiven if the owner maintains that payroll through this crisis.
