Celebrate the New Year With a First Day Hike

Enjoy with me

For the past 10 years, thousands of New Yorkers have celebrated the New Year by getting outside and walking or hiking to be exact. Is this the year you join in the tradition?

According to the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, you can hike at historic sites, state parks, trails, and public lands throughout the state. Most walks range from one to five-mile walks and are perfect for families to get out of the house and have some fun.

Due to COVID requirements for safety precautions, this year's hikes will range from self-guided walks to volunteer-led walks with time and space allowed to social distance. Pre-registration is required and masks must be worn. For a list of hikes and contact information, click here.

Happy New Year!
