How much would you pay for a pizza? A New York City pizzeria is selling one for $38! So what could make it worth all that "dough"?
Sofia Pizza Shoppe is offering the ‘DoughDici Experience’, which they describe as “a limited-edition pan pizza for two designed to offer a unique experience to passionate pizza connoisseurs.” And to make it more exclusive, it’s only available a few nights a week, and there are only a limited number of seatings on those nights.
But their pizza really is about the dough. They cold ferment it for three days, which keeps the yeast from multiplying quickly. And that technique results in a better texture and produces more of the “desirable flavor compounds and fewer of the sour ones.”
“The New York Times” describes it as “a two-inch-tall, puffy crust pizza with a crisp edge and a blanket of red sauce, fresh mozzarella and grated cheese.” So maybe it really is worth the $38? But maybe not… Take a peak below.
