Country superstar and former American Idol winner Carrie Underwood may be joining Chris Daughtry, Adam Lambert, Coldplay's Chris Martin (although his rep says there's “absolutely no truth to this") and possibly others in consideration as judges on the reboot of the hit TV show.
ABC couldn’t get Kelly Clarkson or Jennifer Hudson for their “American Idol” reboot but they apparently still want to fill at least one judges’ chair with a former contestant.
Sources say the network has signed Chris Daughtry to the new version of the talent show, although the trade says the rumor's not true.
The network is also interested in nailing down some superstars for the panel. As of now, the only other name that’s been linked to the “Idol” reboot is Katy Perry who may be close to a deal to sign on as judge.
But it shouldn't be too long before we find out what really is happening. ABC is expected to announce some "Idol" news today during their upfronts at New York's Lincoln Center.
