A-Rod Says He's Unclear If He Was Invited To Jeter Jersey Retirement

Many people questioned Alex Rodriguez for blowing off Derek Jeter’s retirement at Yankee Stadium Sunday night.

It's possible A-Rod was never called to come out to it by Captain Jeter or the Yankees himself.

Alex was asked specifically by reporters, “Did they ask you to come up or could you have come up?” A-Rod responded: “It was Mother’s Day. I was with my mother.”

You know what’s easier than two sentences? Two or three letters—yes or no.

“I don’t know if he was invited,” A-Rod’s spokesman Ron Berkowitz told the Daily News at the time. “I have no idea.”

That night, A-Rod went to dinner with girlfriend Jennifer Lopez at Nobu in midtown-Manhattan, but did tweet his former teammate: “Thank you for the pleasure of playing alongside you for so many years. Congrats, Captain #JeterNight.”

Yet this is the guy still on the Yankees payroll making $21-million this season as a special advisor to owner Hal Steinbrenner.

A-Rod made his debut as a color commentator last night calling the Yankees-Royals game for FOX Sports 1.
