For the second time this year, one of the poultry suppliers for Whole Foods accidentally sent a big shipment of chicken salad. The problem is the shipment didn't actually contain any chicken. Oops! The Willow Tree Poultry Farm has recalled 440 pounds of “buffalo-style chicken salad” that it turns out was actually contained cranberry-apple tuna salad instead. Whoops!
The mistake was noticed by Whole Foods employees while they were unpacking it. The USDA says the product was pulled for “misbranding” and for containing an “undeclared allergen.” The packages went to stores in Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York and have the Whole Foods brand name, not Willow Tree.
Willow Tree also had a “misbranding” recall earlier this year in January. They issued a recall for 204 pounds of “chicken salad” after it was discovered it contained egg salad instead.
