Firefighter Honored For Saving Baby From Burning Building

Recently, I shared the amazing story of a Georgia family of 10 who lost everything in an apartment fire.

The Ragland family made headlines when three-year-old Destiny, the last child of the eight kids to get out, was thrown by her dad from the third-floor balcony when the flames were getting too close.

Thankfully, Captain Scott Stroup of the DeKalb County Fire Department was waiting  with open arms and  caught the baby. Stroup is being recognized for his heroism that night.

To recognize the fire team’s heroism, Jan. 23 was officially proclaimed DeKalb County Fire Rescue Day.

Stroup explains, “Actually getting to see that little girl smile and play with her siblings, wow. That’s all I needed right there.” Check out the original story and dramatic video below.
