The 28th Annual WRWD N&S Supply Country Cares For Kids St. Jude Radiothon is history. The total of $167,253 raised as of 7pm Saturday topped last year's total. A record number of Partners in Hope signed up for an ongoing monthly donation.
Our two day, 24 hour broadcast was a huge success thanks to generous donations, volunteers, sponsors and so many who wanted to do their part in helping to put an end to childhood cancer.
Many from our iHeartmedia family of stations in the Hudson Valley for joined host Party Marty Mitchell on the air throughout the two day broadcast live from center court at the Poughkeepsie Galleria. Special thanks to WRWD's Uncle Mike, Q92's Joe Daily and Michelle Taylor, WKIP Program Director and iHeartMediaSpecialist News Director Cameron Hendrix, 96.1-KISSFM's J Will and iHeartMedia Finance Specialist Sharon Pfeiffer, who has been a part of the WRWD St Jude Radiothon since the very beginning in 1989.
It is truly a family with our programming, promotions and sales departments led by iHeartMedia Market President Chuck Benfer, Rob VanDerbeck (SVP Sales), Chris Marino (SVP Programming), Randy Mills (Engineer), Cory Mills (Promotions Director), Felicia Kirschner (Promotions Coordinator), Scott Kunda (Production Director) and Ava Yurchison (Sales Assistant). Uncle Mike, Scott and Jeff Semancik were very busy behind the scenes in the studio keeping WRWD on the air and making sure the radiothon ran smoothly. Special thanks to Pam, Anneka, Nicole, Elise and the entire St. Jude team!
WRWD and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital have been partners for nearly three decades.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent since the hospital opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent. We won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.
