In a show of support for the 17 students killed in a Florida high school shooting and to advocate for stricter gun control laws.Students and teachers across the country will are planning for a walk out of classrooms tomorrow.
EMPOWER, the group organizing the protest, says the walkout will happen at 10am local time and will last 17 minutes to honor each of the shooting victims. Over 25-hundred walkouts are planned, according to the organization's website.
Last month, gunman Nikolas Cruz stormed into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland and fatally shot 17 people, reigniting the gun control movement.
Some schools are allowing students to partake in the walkout, while others are encouraging students to engage in other ways. The ACLU says students who choose to walk out of their classrooms can't be punished more than they would if they were simply skipping class on any other day.
