While kids under the age of 16 can always fish without a license, the same cannot be said for anyone older than that, with the exception of today.
According to the NYSDEC, in honor of Veteran's day as well as trying to encourage more people to get out and enjoy the great outdoors you can fish any of the fresh waters in New York without a license.
If you haven't fished for awhile, it's a perfect chance to remember how much fun it is or if you fish all the time bring someone along with you who doesn't fish and introduce them to the sport.
