Dan + Shay are giving back this holiday season!
The country duo, comprised of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, worked with Safe Haven Family Shelter to surprise three homeless families with starter homes. The two also partnered with Ashley HomeStore to make sure the homes were fully-furnished and decorated for the holidays when the families arrived.
"It was very emotional watching these families' reactions when they saw their homes for the first time," Smyers told People. "I speak for both of us when I say it was life-changing -- it put everything into perspective, and made us truly appreciate all the blessings in our life that we can sometimes take for granted."
The YouTube video below shows the family's reaction to Dan + Shay's heartfelt gift. The "Take Me Home For Christmas" singers describe the experience as "the highlight of our year," and thank their fans for getting them to where they are today.
"We're grateful for all that has happened to us along the journey of our career, but nothing is more rewarding than using our platform to give back," Smyers added. "The holidays are a difficult time for the less fortunate, especially as the weather turns cold, and there are so many obstacles to navigating shelter during a pandemic."

Dan + Shay also spread some Christmas joy this year with the release of their first original holiday song, "Take Me Home For Christmas." Written by the duo's Smyers and Mooney alongside Andy Albert, Jordan Reynolds, Jordan Schmidt, and Mitchell Tenpenny, the track finds the singers hoping to spend the holidays with their new lover.
"Baby, won’t you take me home for Christmas / Show me around your town / Take me where you used to watch the snow come down," the duo sings in the chorus. "All of your traditions / I wanna know them all / You’ll check every box off of my list / If you take me home for Christmas."
