Newburgh Man Charged In Knife Assault

According to Mid-Hudson News,

NEWBURGH – A 25-year-old Newburgh man has been charged with felony assault after he allegedly slashed another man on his right hand during an altercation.

Newburgh City Police officers responded to 13 Chambers Street at around 11 p.m. on Sunday, April 3 for a reported larceny suspect being detained by a resident.

Officers found the victim fighting with Shamel Campbell after Campbell had allegedly attempted to steal items from a vehicle.

Campbell pulled a knife and sliced the victim’s hand; he required medical attention.

The knife was recovered at the scene.
