School bus strikes, kills pedestrian

According to Mid-Hudson News, KINGSTON – A pedestrian struck by a Kingston school bus late Friday afternoon has died, officials said.

The accident, which is under investigation, occurred at the intersection of Wurts Avenue and Spring Street.

At the time of the accident, the driver of the Ethan Allen Transportation bus had completed the route and was returning to the bus yard with the bus monitor onboard. No students were on the bus, said Superintendent Dr. Paul Padalino.

Officials identified the victim as 59-year-old Sarah Edwards.

Neither the driver nor the monitor were injured, officials said.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends who lost a loved one during this tragic event,” said Padalino. “We also want to share our gratitude to the emergency personnel who responded to the scene.”
